Fat Free and Delightful for Me!

Ok. I am not really a big sweets person. Dessert has never really been a big temptation for me. Good bread and fine cheeses, now that's another story in entirety. If I had it my way, I'd have a big wheel of Brie cheese with a candle sticking in it for my birthday. I'd call it "Fromage Anniversaire". Ok, maybe I'd have it wrapped in a little puff-pastry and caramelized to satisfy the others.

But I digress. If I must choose a sweet, it most definitely would be ice cream. And that is the key word: "cream". (See my above love affair with cheese.). Yum yum! But my diet - that I have fallen off the wagon of so many times - looks down on ice cream as a major food group.

Hallelujah and Praise the Lord! The angels were singing that fateful day I was in the freezer section of Publix buying the real stuff for the boys. There it was: Breyers Fat-Free Chocolate.

Not only is this stuff fat free, has only 90 calories, AND four grams of FIBER per serving... This stuff rocks! And I swear it is creamier than the real thing.

Too bad it doesn't go with Brie!

  1. While that ice cream does look tempting, my heart is racing after the mere sight of that brie. I've actually considered changing my name to Brie ;) Trader Joe's sells light brie ~ it's really not that bad.

  2. Oh both the cheese and the ice cream look amazing!! Thanks for making me even hungrier :( hehe :) I eat tons of frozen yogurt out here in san diego and while the fiber isn't there, @ 100 calories for 4 oz., it totally satisfies my(very persistent) sweet tooth!

  3. Hmmm. Fatfree ice cream--I don't know, but I will give it a try based on your recommendation! Have you tried the Healthy Choice fudge bars? They, too, are really good--very creamy and not grainy at all! Still, I'd rather have the cheese!

  4. doesn't everything go with brie? :-) ha! i love it too -- i remember serving it once at a party and one (younger) woman asked me what it was! well, i let her know exactly what it was, how to prepare it, and right then and there a brie lover was born....but i digress. i'm a chocoholic of any kind and an ice cream fanatic as well... i couldn't choose if my life depended on it!

  7. Oh, I am *such* a big fan of Breyer's Smooth&Dreamy ice cream. I can put Hershey's (you know, it's fat-free!) syrup on it & completely trick myself into thinking I am indulging in something far more sinful than it really is. I love me some cheese, but my sweet tooth can't even be joked about...it's so bad that I once subsisted almost entirely on Coke Zero & Pop-Tarts. (The diet of my most hectic commuting law school days.)

But bread? Eh, I can take it or leave it. ;)

  8. Sweets are not my temptation either, Bev. I want the wheel of brie with a side of steak!
