Tuesday's Kitchen Inspiration

Today is supposed to be my Tuesday's Kitchen Inspiration day.  It's supposed to be the day I look around my kitchen and find a photograph, picture or something that inspires me.  Today I saw this...
and this...
 and this...
and this...
 and this...

And guess what?  It was a mess, but... I am inspired.  I am thankful.  I am amazed.  I am all these things because I am so blessed that I have so much.  My family and I have so much that this large kitchen can, in fact, become such an enormous mess.  And then I realized that my kitchen is bigger than the home hut of most people who live the world around us.  My kitchen is bigger than their home!  I'd bet most of yours are too.

And even though it made me crazy this afternoon to have to clean it and nag the boys to get all their stuff out... again, I am blessed.  Even the contents of the mess speak volumes:  Jack Rogers sandals, Wedgewood everyday china, my old Junior League's cookbook, an Edisto (where we have our beach house) baseball hat, Cephlon pans, membership newsletter to our club, Crabtree and Evelyn hand soap.  I'd bet you'd find the same mess (if not better and more expensive).

Wow.  It really hit home, my messy kitchen.  My blessed, messy kitchen.  It was a Tuesday's Kitchen Inspiration.

  2. Could not have said it better myself. I love the colour on your walls -- so light and airy. That would inspire me!

  3. I was going to comment on the wall color too! Love it. And yes, you certainly nailed this one, didn't you?? I was thinking about that while bitching that I had to boil my water to wash dishes this week. Stopped the bitching pretty fast (well, maybe not on twitter...)

  4. I absolutely love your wall color. What is it? I (well I mean dh) have a ton of painting to do this spring/early summer and that color looks amazing. I have white woodwork like you.

  5. I love this post...Thank you, thank you, thank you sweet Bevy. My kitchen (and house) looked like a tornado had gone through it by the time I put the kids to bed last night and while I was going crazy, I am thankful for all I have too. We are so blessed!

  8. Thanks for reminding me of this as I come home to a house I haven't really seen for the last 4-5 day except to sleep. I was a little down because the clutter has accumulated the last few days, but you reminded me just how blessed I am to have all of this clutter. I saw your post about the GA and SC girls getting together- Love the idea. Let me know when there is a plan.

  11. Bevy, I ADORE your kitchen! Love that wall color - do you recall the name of the color? Yes, it is nice to step back and count our blessings. So often, I just see clutter, but I need to look at the bigger picture. I can afford that clutter and the space in which it resides. We are blessed. Have a great day!
